Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ release date and alleged specifications revealed
NEW DELHI: Some more details have popped out regarding the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ smartphones. The smartphones were recently reported to see the light of the day at MWC 2018. Now latest reports suggest not only reaffirm the release date but also show its front panel in a leaked image.
According to a Bloomberg report, the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will be launching at MWC 2018, which is in late February. This means the two devices will probably see a release date sometime in late March next year. If the rumoured release date holds some weight, the duo will be arriving almost a month ahead as compared to the release dates of the Galaxy S8 and the S8+.
The report adds that the new smartphones will be similar to the current generation Galaxy S handsets but will sport an updated camera.
In addition to this piece of information, a Chinese website Digi.tech.qq.com has also hinted at the battery details of Galaxy S9. It claims that the smartphone will feature a bigger battery with 3200mAh capacity. This is 200mAH more than what the Galaxy S8 includes. There is no word on the Galaxy S9+'s battery capacity. The report adds that the smartphone will feature Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 tech as well.
A user on Weibo has even posted an image showing the front panels of both Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9+. From the image, it can be said that the smartphones will sport a similar design like the Galaxy S8. Both are likely to have an extended 'InfinityDisplay' tech with 18.5:9 aspect ratio or more.
According to a recent leak, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is also rumoured to feature a single rear camera. If true, it might come a surprise for Samsung fans as the company has already entered the dual-rear camera bandwagon this year with the Galaxy Note 8. Another interesting change mentioned is that the fingerprint sensor at the back will now be shifted below the rear camera instead of its side.
