Make Smart ~Android smartphone companies cheating their customers with fake security patches
Android smartphone companies cheating their customers with fake security patches
Android is a very good operating system especially when it comes to handheld devices. It is considered as a market king powering more than 70% of mobile devices all around the world. But as we know recently android ecosystem is under stress, after knowing about fake patches and updates from its manufacturers. A Germany based cybersecurity company claims that majority of Android phone companies are not providing regular security patches, but showing fake recent dates on devices fooling people that they have the latest patch or update for their device. Big companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony, Nokia, Moto are also included in the list, but they are not guilty equally.
Google Pixel phones are the only android phones that have all latest advertised updates and patches according to this company. Now companies like Google, Sony, Samsung, Wiko Mobile have 0 to 1 missing patches.
Xiaomi, Oneplus, Nokia have missed 1 to 3 security patches.
HTC, Huawei, LG, Moto does not have 3 to 5 patches
TCL & ZTE are the ones which do not have 4+ security patches and they are literally cheating people.
In our opinion, these companies are guilty, If the security company is right. They should not fake security patches and it is directly connected to our security. If you can’t provide security patches then don’t boast about un-necessary things like moonlight selfies, dual cameras. fastest processors and things like that. First work on basic things, make them reliable and good then move towards fancy things. Google should do something to make sure all of it’s devices are updated with all patches.
